// Infovore Edition
On a Personal Note
Another interesting week in the books. As you all know, I just returned from Israel, where I was leading a seminar on geopolitics. Although I’m not sure that really needed to be specified. After all, everything is geopolitics in Israel (and that whole region, for that matter). Very interesting experience! I might reflect on the whole thing in one of the next newsletters; but since I am already on the go again for the next assignment (Nairobi, Kenya), I am (as usual) in a bit of a rush.
The more important story of the week, however, is in any case the post-liberal reaction to my latest ævum piece, “Peak Postliberalism” (which I will include with an English translation in the next edition). After some excerpts of the whole thing went somewhat viral, the Orbanites got triggered:
Since this whole story is still evolving, I will only be able to do a proper rundown of this post-liberal meltdown in the next edition. Meanwhile:
Welcome to all the new readers!
The SG Infovore Routine
Since I recently had quite a tick-up in subscribers, I thought I’d do another housekeeping post and update my Infovore edition from 1.5 years ago. Quite a few things have changed. So, here we go: This is an overview of the information sources outside of books that I consume on the regular.
And as you’ll see, I consume a lot of information throughout the day. But keep in mind: that’s my job :P
Obviously, I still prefer reading books and make enough space for that (here’s a link to my last reading update). But since I’m constantly either reading or listening to something, things pile up naturally. Keen readers will notice that I’ve somewhat abandoned my “Avoid the News” mantra. Since I do much more investing these days and do more work on geopolitics, keeping track of the news cycle has, unfortunately, become much more essential. I don’t particularly enjoy it, but I try to stay focused on the big picture.
That also explains why there is some shift in content in here, as you’ll see. Moreover, you will see that I now have many more paid subscriptions to traditional news outlets than in the past. That seems to be a direct result of the degradation of twitter. I feel like twitter has become so much worse that I needed a counterweight to my feed.
BTW, don’t get scared. I wouldn’t recommend this level of content consumption to anyone; but maybe you’ll find some gems in the mix. Everything on this list is something I actually read or listen to. This selection came about through a long process of trying to balance a wide range of ideological viewpoints, and there are many sources here I fundamentally disagree with. But that’s healthy, I suppose.
